Learning to Find Joy in Everyday Life

DAY 2 OF 3

Enjoy a normal workday.

I think Ruth is the epitome of tireless work. Ruth had to get up for the sake of her family and work, despite the moment of pain she was going through, she didn't hide in suffering and sadness.

We all have the options to work or not to work. But Ruth sets an example for us by doing things even when the circumstances are against us and not letting ourselves be dominated by emotions

. Imagine if Ruth hadn't gone to work that day because she was so sad and tired. Boaz passes by the field that day and sees nothing out of the ordinary, because it turns out that the only extraordinary thing that day was a woman who went to work.

What is considered "normal" may be what another considers extraordinary. Sometimes emotions don't discern that there are benefits behind a situation and discard possibilities of unique opportunities.

Are you bored, sad, tired of the routine, tired of another normal day? Don't let that emotion dominate you and enjoy the work that God has given you.

Working is a gift from God, if it comes with the enjoyment of enjoying Him.

Ecclesiastes 5:18-19 affirms it. How is working going to make me feel happy? Ruth didn't plan for that day of work to make her feel happy or maybe she did. The Bible doesn't actually record it, but something we can imagine is that she deeply longed for the reward at the end of the day. (Ruth 2:7)

However, God would give her a greater reward. She would come to know a man who would redeem her, take her out of her poverty, make her sit in a place of authority and love her wholeheartedly.

Thanks to the decision to go to work, God gave her the opportunity. You can be happy on a normal workday because God may see all the effort you are making, and He may be orchestrating the greatest opportunity and miracle you have ever seen. (Colossians 3:23-24)

Ruth worked very hard throughout the harvest, and although it was a long period, God granted her favor so that the work was not so forced.

That doesn't mean that Ruth didn't work harder, it just means that she worked with advantages, just as GOD may be giving you grace and favor for this day.

Be happy while you do your work, enjoy every day even if no one tells you anything, maybe your promotion and miracle is already near.
