Reading With the People of God - #5 We Believe.Намуна
Memorization Challenge of the Month:
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Reading with the People of God Primer
Today's passages speak to the pain of exile and the yearning for God’s presence.
Psalm 137 reflects the deep sorrow and struggle of being separated from what is sacred, while Deuteronomy 8:1-10 reminds us of the journey of God’s people through the wilderness. This journey is another form of exile, where God’s provisions and commands were meant to humble and test His people. This highlights the importance of obedience and reminds us of God’s faithfulness. Romans 7 shows us the internal exile of being trapped in sin despite knowing what is wrong and right. This passage highlights our internal struggle, our desperate need for divine intervention, and the grace that can only be found in Jesus Christ. Many of us experience a time of exile in our lives. We might be caught up in life or feeling a form of disconnect due to sin in our lives, but family, I want you to know that God is faithful. The Lord is with us. He is leading us even in the midst of our own personal exile. Let's not focus on our past mistakes. Instead, let's focus on the new life God has called us into as His chosen children.
We pray that you, Lord, continue to remind us of your faithfulness during our times of exile and in the midst of our inner struggles. Guide us to obey Your commands and rely on Your grace, which can only be found in Your Son, Jesus Christ. We love you Lord. Thank you for Your forgiveness. Amen.

About this Plan
This is the fifth part of a reading plan through the Bible, following the lectionary pattern of reading in the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament each day. In addition, each day this month will feature a memorization challenge for the Apostles' Creed, and there will be brief devotionals from different people in our Church scattered throughout the plan.
