100 Days of Hope

DAY 96 OF 100

Trusting God’s Will

This morning I read a story about Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, the head of a network of Christian house churches in Iran. The pastor was first sentenced to execution in November 2010 and now, he is being asked to recant his beliefs and convert to Islam in order to avoid the death penalty. He refuses to do so.

It is safe to say this imprisonment was not the first time he ran into challenges because of his faith. He encountered hostility when building the church network and was persecuted for living his life as Christ has called him to. Still, he remains faithful. In him we find a strong example of trust. He trusts in a God that is mighty to save, yet is balanced by an understanding that even if God doesn’t save his life, then his death will serve as a method to glorify God.

Today’s Scripture commands us to give our cares and desires over to the Lord and then have peace and faith that His plans have the best outcomes for us. It is only when we are completely surrendered to Christ that we can fulfill our purpose. When we truly believe that His plans are best, and we surrender our will for the purpose of the Kingdom.

Prayer: Father, I humbly surrender my agenda to your hands. You are Master over all the earth, and you see the grander plan. I trust that what you have planned for my life is what will bring your Kingdom the most glory.
