The Success of JosephНамуна
Potiphar's House
Joseph was sold to the Ishmaelites and ended up in Potiphar's house, but it is beautiful to see how the Lord was with him. Even though Joseph was in a foreign land, sold by his own family, it is clear that the Lord never forgot him.
Even when it seems we are alone and no one cares about us, God never forgets us (Luke 12:6-7). And do you know what's most impressive? Others notice that God is with us. When we are truly Christians, the world sees it. When we have a contrite heart and allow God to act in our lives, people notice and want us around.
God blessed Potiphar's house because of Joseph. God can bless your workplace because of you, and He can bless your home because of you, but we need to stay with Him.
Potiphar's wife wanted Joseph to sleep with her. Joseph was young, handsome, single, and living in the house of a ruler. The temptress was his mistress: a high-ranking person whose position demanded obedience and satisfaction of her interests. In fact, her favor could have contributed more than anything else to Joseph's promotion. She likely had the means to help him achieve the highest honors of the court, but by rejecting her, Joseph made her his enemy. Opportunity often makes the thief, the adulterer.
Being with God isn't just about attending church; it's about maintaining your integrity. Joseph did not sell out or compromise his values.
One day, Potiphar's wife grabbed Joseph by his cloak, but he fled from the house, just as we often need to flee from sin. Potiphar's wife falsely accused Joseph of trying to assault her, and Potiphar believed his wife and sent Joseph to prison.
This was not the first time Joseph's garment was used to bear false witness against him. Once again, his tunic was taken from him. Another pit in Joseph's life, yet he still chose to remain faithful to God.
Choose to be with God as well; choose to keep your heart pure.
