What to Pray for Your Children

DAY 7 OF 16

What to pray for your children

Practical guidelines (4)

Pray for a willingness and ability to work. “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people” (Colossians 3:23).

Pray for a disciplined life and that they will choose to be disciples of Jesus Christ. “Don’t you realise that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified” (1 Corinthians 9:24-27).

Pray for the powerful development of their prayer life, that they will learn to pray, and that prayer will be a joy to them. “I will bring them to My holy mountain of Jerusalem and will fill them with joy in My house of prayer. I will accept their burnt offerings and sacrifices, because My Temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations” (Isaiah 56:7). “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere” (Ephesians 6:18).
