Exposing Truth: Uncover the Real Reason for Doubt

Have you ever felt disappointed in yourself? Maybe you even felt like you let God down. You’re not alone. I’ve been there.

As I began to understand what God was leading me to do, I struggled to make significant progress in my calling. Even trying to step outside my comfort zone, I could only go so far, and then I would get stuck. Disappointments and doubts were stacking up.

Do you know what it is like to try to defeat doubt only to find it deepening instead? I began to question whether I could live out my purpose. In time, I realized what was holding me back was not on the outside but on the inside.

My doubt was stronger than my belief in what I was capable of or what was possible with God. I did not understand the real reason for my doubt at the time, so I could not take a stand to silence its unrelenting voice.

Even though we know God made us for a purpose, we hold back when doubt directs our decisions. We might stop seeking before we uncover our purpose, stop preparing before we pursue it, or stop moving forward before we fulfill it.

The real reason we doubt is that we do not see ourselves as God sees us. Our view can help or hinder our clarity, confidence, and progress in our purpose.

2 Corinthians 5:16-17 brings to light that the way we see everyone and everything changes when we put Jesus at the center of our lives. Our old perspective of who we are from the world’s view is no longer valid. We become a new person in Christ and begin to see ourselves and our lives from the spiritual view through God’s eyes.

We can choose to look away from any labels or limits we have accepted by conforming to society, comparing to others, or self-talk. If we instead look up to God, we see the truth about our worth, significance, and purpose through His eyes.

We begin to overcome doubt when we choose to see ourselves as who God says we are and live according to what He says is possible.

Embracing God’s view empowers us to confidently live out the life of passion, purpose, and impact He intended for us.
