What Matters Most (The Book of 2 Timothy)Намуна
REFLECT
My bones were weary, and my mind was exhausted. The morning had come, another day had begun, and I did my best to listen to the voice on the other end of the line. It was cancer. My heart skipped a beat at the news of my loved one. While finishing the conversation, a text came in. As soon as the phone conversation ended, I read the text, “How can I pray for you?” The friend who sent the text had no idea of the news I was receiving when she sent it. She only knew that the Holy Spirit was prompting her heart to text me, and she obeyed.
The first few verses of Paul's letter to Timothy introduce his great love for this dear friend. The letter itself is an act of friendship, but in this introductory section, Paul’s attitude of prayer provides an example for us today. He cherished Timothy’s tears and anticipated the day when they would encourage one another face to face.
Life is full of unknowns. Let’s pray for those God impresses on our hearts and treasure the moments of today that matter most.
PRAY
Lord, please direct my thoughts to those who need the comfort only You can give. May I remember to pray for them and love them through their circumstances. Amen.
