How to Know if You Are a True ChristianНамуна
Day 1: The Natural Person
There are three types of people that you will encounter in life. Every single person will decide which one of these three people they will be.
The first person is The Natural Person.
This person aims to live a self-directed life. If you are reading this Bible plan and are making an effort to grow in your relationship with Christ, then you likely are not this person. But, we are often surrounded by people like this at work or in our families.
This person has not received Jesus into their lives yet, so their own will leads all of their decisions and actions. Everything they do displays their inner belief, “I am in control.” Oftentimes, their efforts only lead to frustration.
1 Corinthians 2:14 describes this person as someone who rejects the things of God because it is as folly to them.
In this scripture, the word “folly” means foolishness. Foolishness in its original language means being ridiculously or wildly unreasonable.
So, even the thought that you would spend your time completing a Bible reading plan or attending church on Sunday, is wildly unreasonable to The Natural Person.
This person will even display resistance to the things of the Spirit of God because they do not have the ability to understand them.
When it comes to their personal lives, they live just trying to get by. They are often good people with good hearts, but they are lost and use vices to survive. These vices and coping mechanisms are usually things that stimulate their senses to drown out how they are really feeling.
They turn up secular music, they smoke marijuana or nicotine, they drink alcohol, etc., all in an effort to tune out what they are feeling and to feel better about their lives.
Reflect:
Do you know someone personally who is The Natural Person? Think of 1-3 people who are like this.
There was likely someone who stood in the gap for you and prayed for you to be aware of and believe in Christ. This is the very reason that Christ came to earth, to seek and to save the lost.
No matter who they are or what things they have done, God desires for their souls to be saved.
Take a moment to commit your list of people to prayer. Try to pray for them every day for the duration of this reading plan.
