Help! I Have a Toxic Family!Намуна
Day 5: Free Indeed
David experienced rejection, grief, and betrayal. These three traumas will eventually produce complacency.
We see this in 2 Samuel 11 when David chose to sit out a battle.
This was during the time when kings were known to go off to war, but David made one mistake. He did not go out to battle. Sometimes we wake up and say, I am sick and tired of all of this toxicity. I am tired of fighting.
And the one time that you decide not to fight is when you lose, but that could have been the potential for the greatest breakthrough.
At that moment, David looked on his roof and saw Bathsheba bathing naked. He told his servants to fetch her and sinned by sleeping with her. Then he went on a spiral of sin and engineered the death of her husband and other actions.
In one move of not fighting when it was time to fight and taking a sin vacation, he became an adulterer and a murderer at the same time.
This is why it is pivotal for you to address these three roots.
You need to confront rejection, grief, and betrayal. You must allow yourself to feel it and process it. This process is not an overnight one. It is okay to take the time to deal with these things because the more that they are pushed aside, the more room they have to spiral and manifest in your physical body.
These are traumas that do not simply dissolve over time, they always go somewhere. If you do not allow God to deal with them, they become the raw materials for your own destruction. They become the raw materials that the devil uses to spark disease and sickness in your body. This is where we see hypertension that turns into high blood pressure and then cardiac arrest, or anger that turns into irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and then into rheumatoid arthritis.
This is why the Bible says that if you are set free, you are free indeed! He wants you free in every area of your mind which will free you in your physical heart, which will free you in your liver, in your kidneys, and in your whole body!
Through Jesus, you have access to redemption for you and your bloodline. Start right now, take some time to sit with Jesus, and begin to confront the things that have been plaguing your heart. Ask the Lord to deal with whatever it is.
You will be the one in your family where the hold and reign of rejection, grief, and betrayal end for good!
