The Balanced Bible Reading PlanНамуна
“Plan Introduction, Part 4 of 4”
Yesterday, we looked at the number of chapters and verses in each spiritual food group, and the percentage each makes up of the entire Bible, however, it would be impractical and undesirable to divide the readings based on an exact number of verses per day. These are just averages. The divisions are based on complete thoughts, themes and stories, rather than on chapters. When a thought or story is too long for one day’s reading, it is divided logically, and in a way to stimulate interest in the reading for the next day.
And since balance is the theme, balance is the key to each section, as well. The Creation/Law section, History section and Letters section are organized as they appear in the Bible. The book of Psalms is so long that you get to enjoy it throughout the year. The Poetry section divides the book of Psalms according to its Biblical division of 5 books and intersperses the other poetry books in among them. There are major and Minor Prophets in the Prophecy section. This section is organized so that you alternate between a major prophet and four Minor Prophets (Lamentations follows Jeremiah in this section.). The Gospel/Acts section is organized so that the book of Acts falls in the middle of the Gospels, between Mark and Luke.
The Bible contains exciting things that I never dreamed were there until I read it myself. You, too, are going to be surprised! By following this plan, you are embarking on an adventure that is unlike the reading of any other book. As the Holy Spirit impresses the truths of this book on your heart, these truths will spill over into all of life. Enjoy!

About this Plan
This plan views the Bible as spiritual nourishment, and just as the best, most enjoyable diet is one of balanced variety, this plan offers daily readings from 6 spiritual "food groups" like this, for example: Each day you will have a 1) CREATION/LAW appetizer, a 2) HISTORY main entrée with a side dish of 3) POETRY and 4) PROPHECY with 5) GOSPELS/ACTS to drink and 6) LETTERS for dessert. ENJOY!
