DAY 4: Revelation

Revelation will come from studying God's Word and, of course, from the Holy Spirit, who may also inspire me to understand the text better. Expect that, as you sit and meditate on God's Word, the Holy Spirit will bring things to the surface in your mind to reveal what you're reading.

To do this, you need to be quiet and take your time...

Here, the passage highlights several important points:

The first revelation stresses the importance of recognizing Jesus as the Messiah (remember, in this passage Bartimaeus calls him Son of David, which refers, among other things, to a prophecy present in 2 Samuel 7, and which refers to the Messiah). This recognition opens the door to divine intervention, showing that when we confess our faith in Jesus, He stops in our lives.

The second revelation highlights the fact that the negative opinions and criticisms of those around us must not discourage us.

The dynamic changes when Jesus intervenes, reminding us that God can change circumstances. All those voices around me, all those people who may criticize me, all those people who don't understand my faith, etc., must not dictate my conduct towards Jesus.

You can, like Bartimaeus, say to yourself: "I won't let my voice be crushed by the crowd around me! Jesus! I want to shout even louder: You are my Messiah, you are the Son of David! Jesus! Have mercy on me, on my present situation."

The third revelation emphasizes the importance of declaring our needs to God, even if He already knows our necessities. Bartimaeus expresses his need to recover his sight with faith, showing that our active declaration of faith plays a part in the divine response.

In short, these revelations encourage us to recognize Jesus as Lord, not to be discouraged by criticism, and to declare our needs with faith, knowing that God can change circumstances and answer our prayers. It's an invitation to active faith and complete trust in God.

Lord Jesus, Thank You for what You give us through Your Word: strength, peace, joy, courage, faith, ...! Your Word strengthens us! Amen!
