Listen: Guided by the Holy SpiritНамуна
Christ is revealed …
As human beings, we have a trillion decisions to make daily. That thought alone can be overwhelming. People suffer from ‘decision fatigue’. Within this context we can so easily become wrapped up in our own small, little world where Jesus has to answer to our beck and call. We forget we’re called into a much larger story, Christ’s story and how everything in all of creation has been reconciled to the Father, is still being reconciled to the Father, and, in the future, will finally be reconciled to the Father.
You see, we’re not building a relationship with God to merely have all our questions answered. Instead, we’re getting to know the most fascinating Person in heaven and earth. Hebrews 11 reminds us of the many stories of those believers who discovered Jesus personally and lived extraordinary lives as they endured steadfastly by constantly beholding Him who - to the ‘natural eye’ - is invisible. There is such profound truth in the reality that we become what we behold.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (AMPC) explains this so beautifully –
‘And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendour and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.’
Knowing God’s will becomes clearer as we get to know Him. Rather than being self-centred and self-focused, we realise we find our definition in Him. Ephesians 1:11 reminds us that it is in Christ that we discover who we are and what we are living for. Christ is the focus. Christ is God’s favourite topic of conversation. He has to be our point of departure.
