Heaven, How Amazing Is It? Part 1 of "Heaven and Hell"Намуна
Will there be cultural expressions on the new earth?
The nations will walk in its light. The kings of the earth bring the glory and honor of the nations into it (Revelation 21:24).
Creativity is a gift from God. Civilizations are an expression of that. How much richness and diversity can be found in the fields of technology, science, literature and art. How intensely can you enjoy music, design, wordplay, artfully landscaped gardens, beautiful clothes, architecture... the list is endless. Yes, many of our cultural expressions are tainted by sin, but that does not alter the fact that the ability to create things is God-given.
Many people think that on the new earth we will return to a pristine state, devoid of culture and technology. But in Revelation 21:24, we read about the kings of the earth bringing their glory and honor into the new Jerusalem. This is a quote from Isaiah 60:11 and points to the cultural treasures the princes will bring into the city. You can imagine it as a magnificent, festive parade of the most magnificent designs - all sanctified so that God will be glorified through them! The description of the new Jerusalem in Revelation 21 shows that God loves beauty and creativity.
God created us with talents and skills. There is every reason to believe that on the new earth we will have the same talents, but unhampered by fatigue, pain and frustration. There is every reason to think that we will invent, create works of art, compose and perform pieces of music - not to put ourselves into the spotlights, but to glorify God!
With what talents and skills can you glorify God, now, here on earth?
