God's Plan With the Night

DAY 2 OF 10

The night belongs to God.

Did you ever notice that God begins creation with the night? When He made the first day, He mentioned the night first and then the day. As a good Father, He must have known that humankind functions best from rest.

That is why it is important to completely relax and feel safe at night. Still, many people associate the dark with fear and the works of the enemy. That’s not a place that feels safe, so what’s the real story?

It is time to see the night for what it really is: the night belongs to God. God separated the dark from the light and gave it a name: the night. When God names something, it is for a reason. The Hebrew word for night is ‘Layill.’

That means protective shadow. The idea that the dark is a place where the enemy can do whatever he wants to is a lie. God is completely present during the day and the night. The light, as well as the dark, belongs to Him. The Bible even says that the night is a protective shadow where God lives. And the good thing is: while we’re sleeping, He is wide awake, making sure that we lack nothing.

Are you afraid of the dark? I understand. For years, it bothered me—until I learned the truth about the night, and the truth sets free! It is possible to feel completely safe in the dark and to enjoy God's presence.

What lies do you believe about the night and the dark?

Now is the time to distance yourself from that and embrace the truth. Freedom and safety in the night is your portion.
