God and Me: Devotions from Time of GraceНамуна
God and My Fears
On every piece of money that you can lay your hands on are four powerful words.
Alas, Americans only partly believe them. Our national behavior suggests to me that our confidence is in George. Washington, that is. The only thing better than money is mo' money. But our currency's testimony is simple and powerful. Blessed are those who do what our money says: In God We Trust.
The giver of all life, owner of all wealth, and manager of the universe is not so very concerned with what's in your wallet. He cares more about what's in your heart. He can replace lost wealth in the snap of a finger. But only you can choose to trust in him. "When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?" (Psalm 56:3,4).
If you need help with growing your ability to trust God for everything, don't ask a young person. He or she hasn't lived long enough to see and understand the divine patterns. Find someone with gray or white hair. They have learned how God always helps people through their hardships and in that way to overcome their fears and live confidently.
