God and Me: Devotions from Time of GraceНамуна
God and My Limitations
A source of never-ending surprise to me and my wife is how different our four children are from one another. How could each have such distinct personalities and skill sets coming from the same two biological parents?
It gives us great pleasure to see them develop their gifts. It also gives us pain to see them struggle with things they are not good at, whether that's advanced algebra, saving money, or managing a relationship. I hope they know that their parents will always love and accept them just as they are.
Did you know that God is even more interested and passionate about helping you develop your life? He and the angels clap and cheer when you succeed. But get this--he does not despise you or hate you or give up on you when you struggle. He knows all of your limitations: "As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust" (Psalm 103:13,14).
Isn't it sweet to entrust your life to the One who knows all your weaknesses, bad secrets, and brokenness and likes you anyway?
