When the Unthinkable Happens: A Journey Through Suffering

DAY 6 OF 6

As Paul pens this letter to the Philippians, his life is nearing its end. Tradition tells us he was eventually beheaded in Rome. Paul is reminding the suffering believers in Philippi they can endure their pain because of what Jesus did for them.

Jesus, who is God, humbled Himself and came to earth to rescue us. Because of our sin, we owe God spiritual death (Romans 6:23). However, God Himself paid our punishment as a substitute when Jesus died on the cross.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

God tells us clearly that everyone who confesses that Jesus is Lord and believes that He rose from the dead will be saved (Romans 10:9-10).

Have you given your life to Christ? If you haven’t, why wait? None of us knows what tomorrow holds. Without Jesus, you are separated from God by your sin. Leaving this world wearing your sin means you will remain separated from Him for all eternity.

Heaven is guaranteed when we receive Jesus, but God gives us more. In your suffering, you will have God’s help and provision in the here and now. He will use your suffering as an opportunity to comfort others and show them Jesus. He gives purpose to your suffering.

Have you been following Jesus for a while? If so, I want to tell you about how you can make a difference, even during your pain. In the midst of my cancer journey, I was able to share Jesus with people from all around the world from my recliner. “How?” you might wonder.

I serve the Lord as a Groundwire Coach. From my easy chair, I can log into Groundwire’s chat platform and communicate with seekers. It gives me purpose. Having a worthy purpose will bless your life and bring you joy!

If you need help looking outside of your own suffering, I’d like to invite you to learn more about how you can share Jesus with others and help them take their first steps with the Savior.

About this Plan

When the Unthinkable Happens: A Journey Through Suffering

We know we’re going to die one day, but that seems far away. Then you wake up one morning with a sore throat and an earache. A few tests later, the news comes back that you have cancer. What?! That can’t be! But. it. is. If you are battling sickness or an emotional pain, I pray you will find hope through what God taught me on this journey.
