Are You a Spiritually Intelligent Parent?

DAY 2 OF 3

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. Romans 8:26 (NLT)

Truth: I can master ALL my weaknesses with the help of the Holy Spirit

Parenthood has an interesting way of revealing our weaknesses. If one does not overcome weaknesses such as short temper, impatience, gossip, etc., there is a high tendency for one to adopt fear-based parenting, repeat negative parenting patterns, or traumatize a child. Spiritually intelligent parents acknowledge that it is only through the help of the Holy Spirit that one can overcome every weakness. Through the help of the Holy Spirit, imperfect parents become perfectly capable of raising godly children and guiding them to embrace God's perfect will for their lives. As you become intimate with the Holy Spirit and receive His help, the Holy Spirit will manifest himself in various dimensions, ultimately leading you to experience the love of the Father (which empowers us to love selflessly) and endless possibilities in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 13:14; John 16:12-14). For example:
As the Spirit of love (Galatians 5:22; 2 Timothy 1:7), He expands our capacity to love our children selflessly and without fear. It takes the Spirit of love to respond to our children like Jesus when their subconscious fears and anxieties manifest as negative behaviors such as tantrums, yelling, deception, people-pleasing, etc.

As the Spirit of power (2 Timothy 1:7; Acts 1:8; Luke 10:19), He empowers us to subdue demonic altars and operations that seek to oppress our children and propagate negative family patterns. The Spirit of Power enables us to subjugate night terrors, sicknesses, addictions, and other demonic weapons forged against our households.

As the Spirit of wisdom and counsel (Isaiah 11:2; Ephesians 1:17, Daniel 5:11), He guides us to make wise parenting decisions, co-parent with wisdom, counsel our children effectively, and creatively support our children's development. When we ask for his counsel, we will choose the right nanny, school or homeschooling curriculum, extracurricular activities, job, relationships, etc. When we consistently partner with the Holy Spirit, we do not exercise ourselves in unnecessary matters, making it possible to be emotionally, physically, and spiritually available to support our children’s development.

We can experience the various dimensions of the operation of the Holy Spirit as we grow in our intimacy with Him and embrace all He has to offer. I have had the wonderful privilege of seeing families transformed by the Holy Spirit. When parents receive the Holy Spirit and begin to live conscious of Him as One who helps master weaknesses, they feel empowered and conquer negative subconscious beliefs, habits, and ancestral issues that impede their capacity to be the kind of parents they desire to be for their children.
