Prepare the Way for the LordНамуна
Prepare Your Thinking
To prepare the way for the Lord, we need to embrace a new paradigm, a new way of thinking and seeing in preparation for what God wants to do.
Peter had a vision on the roof — this vision brought a change of thinking from an old paradigm to a new paradigm.
About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds. Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”
“Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.
The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven. - Acts 10:9-16
We are called to be transformed by the renewing of our mind (Romans 12:2). Peter had to let go of what he had known as right, to embrace the new paradigm and leading of the Holy Spirit. What he knew to be right, was right, but it had now become an old way of doing things because God had done a new thing through Jesus.
Can we embrace the new way God is working and moving? Can we lean into what God is doing and saying now?
Right after Peter’s vision, two men arrived at the house on behalf of Cornelius requesting Peter to come to them. They were requesting Peter to come and speak to them, and Peter, having had the dream, “came without objection.” God orchestrated the opportunity; Peter’s change of mind was what caused him to embrace the opportunity.
There are new opportunities and new callings in front of us — an old paradigm and an old mindset will miss new opportunities.
We must allow the Holy Spirit to renew and change our thinking! Our job isn’t to create new opportunities, our job is to change our thinking and embrace the new opportunities that God will put before us, for his glory to be revealed. See his glory revealed in Acts 10 as you read the entire chapter!
Prayer Point: Lord, I ask that you show me the new ways of thinking that you are revealing. I ask that you would renew my mind, and shift offences, bitterness, and bias so that I can embrace the new opportunities to bring you glory and seek first your kingdom.
