Hey Girl Devotional

DAY 6 OF 6

Who is in your boat?

Bethany

Devo: Imagine that your life is a journey in a row boat. The moment you choose to follow Jesus, He turns your boat 180*, and suddenly, you now find yourself rowing against the current of the world all around you. If all we faced was the challenge of rowing against the tide, that alone would require a lot of effort, but let’s consider for a moment the other rowers? inside our boat. You know, the people you have chosen to surround yourself with, and who have the strongest influence in your life. The direction these friends are rowing may not have mattered when you were going with the flow, but now that you are following Jesus upstream, their direction matters a lot!

There will be times in our life when the current against us seems stronger than ever, and we are going to need our fellow rowers, our boat buddies, to have our back. This means, filling the seats in our boat with people who are rowing in the same direction. People who will encourage us, and row alongside of us when the river gets rough and the task seems too much for us alone!

So take a moment, and look around you. Who’s in your boat? Are they rowing towards Jesus with you? Are they rowing against you? Maybe they aren’t really rowing at all, but in those moments you need “all hands on deck,” they are just added weight.

Thankful: Who are the people God has placed in your life who are rowing with you and for you? Consider sending them a “thanks for being my boat buddy” note today!

Song Suggestion: “Row, Row, Row your boat” ;)
