Being A Woman Of The WordНамуна
Examine Your Heart
One of the most loving things we can do is to tell someone when they are in sin and need to repent. But the majority of the time, I find myself nit-picking all of their actions, and if it doesn’t meet my standards, I am quick to cast judgment with little to no grace.
One way grace reveals itself in our lives is through examining our hearts first. Like Jesus said, we need to be constantly investigating our own intentions and the sin in our lives before approaching our brothers and sisters in Christ with their sin. God’s word does call us to speak Truth in love, but with our hearts hardened and grace nowhere to be found, that Truth can often be slandered.
Whether approaching a sister in Christ or an unbeliever, we can look back to the time when we were broken and in sin, yet Christ showed us grace and mercy by forgiving us when we least deserved it. We need to be reminded daily of how we are sinners in dire need of mercy. With this mindset, how could we not extend this grace to others? If we pray and ask God to make us more attentive of our sin than the sin of others, we’ll find long-lasting results for many issues in our relationships. We all fall short of Scripture, and instead of relying on our own righteousness we can rest in the righteousness of Christ and the grace He has bestowed on believers.
Pray for someone you know whose heart is hardened by God’s word. How can you point them to the truth in a loving and compassionate way?
