Daily Prayers for Evenings

DAY 8 OF 10

A Clean Slate

Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O LORD! PSALM 25:6-7 ESV

Do you remember your best friend from elementary school . . .how about your first enemy? What about your first boss or the first coworker you sat across from? Our memories are filled with all sorts of people in our lives. We remember people in a certain way based on our interactions with them. Thoughts of them may bring up positive or negative emotions in us. God remembers His children—He sees us and knows who we are. But in His mercy, He doesn’t look at us and think about how we’ve slighted Him, disobeyed, ignored, and dishonored Him. His forgiveness toward us and His love for us provides us with a clean slate each day. When we trust Jesus for salvation, God sees us as blameless and pure. We are no longer known for our sins. Instead, we are remembered with love. Tonight, celebrate God’s goodness to you. Thank Him for His mercy and His love, and His forgiveness.

God, You are so good. Thank You for Jesus. Thank You for Your mercy in my life because of Jesus' sacrifice in my place. Thank You for not remembering my wrongdoings. I want to live each day loving You and serving You. I don't deserve Your love, but You've chosen to love me anyway. Thank You. Amen.
