Day 13: Love and/or Justice
Jesus is fully righteous and holy and will judge every sin hidden or exposed, but He is also all-merciful and doesn’t repay us what we deserve. D. A. Carson says, “Both God’s love and God’s wrath are ratcheted up in the move from… the Old Testament to the New. These themes barrel along through redemptive history, unresolved, until they come to a resounding climax – the cross. Do you wish to see God’s love? Look at the cross. Do you wish to see God’s wrath? Look at the cross.” How can these two things be? How can God set impossibly high standards of both behavior and forgiveness?
1) Which of these two parts of Jesus am I more comfortable with? Why?
2) What can I learn about Jesus and put into practice from accepting the part of Jesus that comes less naturally to me?
3) Write a short statement to remind yourself of these multi-faceted truths about Jesus.
a) Acts 10:42
b) Hebrews 9:15
c) Psalm 103:10-12
d) 1 John 1:9
e) Luke 6:38
About this Plan

This December, we want to celebrate who JESUS IS. He is much more than we can comprehend; He is so good and multi-faceted! This reading plan will serve as an opportunity to look deeper into the many aspects of Jesus this holiday season. This plan was created by Madeleine Weidemann.
