Pause: A Month of Prayer in Five Minutes a Day

DAY 12 OF 30

Proclaim

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Phil. 4:6)

Prompt

For years, I prayed for friendships. If you have ever seen my life, you would think I have a ton of friends. I don’t. And honestly, that’s true for most people. Don’t let the devil tell you something is wrong with you because you aren’t drowning in close friends.

Millions of people are lonely and desperate to be known and needed. That was me for years until God helped me become someone who could be a friend. Then He brought me many friends.

We all need people who will stand with us, hang with us, invite us to do stuff on the weekend, and be there when we need them. And we need to be those kinds of people for others.

So, if this is you, start praying for God to show you how to be a person who can be a friend. And then welcome the relationships He brings into your life.

Prod

If you have friends already, be grateful. And call them today to tell them you love them.

Praise

Pray

Jesus, help me to be a good friend. Thanks for being my best friend. You’ve stuck close to me no matter what. Thank you for showing me how to love others. Today, I ask you to guide me to the right people, to grow into the right person, and for your blessing of rich friendships here on this earth. In the meantime, thank you for being my friend!

About this Plan

Pause: A Month of Prayer in Five Minutes a Day

Depression. Loneliness. Comparison. Greed. Addiction. People-pleasing. These are tools of the enemy to steal your calling and rob your joy. In this reading plan, drawn from his book, Lance Lang invites you to neutralize those tools by pausing each day, studying scripture, reading encouragement, taking action, and refocusing your attention on Jesus. Press forward into what God has for you. Press pause.
