Imprisoned and yet so free!

"I can't stand this situation anymore! How long am I supposed to stay locked up?" Do you remember these thoughts during the lockdown? Today I really want to encourage you: You can be physically trapped, yet free inside!

Maybe the "being trapped" in you is not virus-related but illness-related. If so, I would like to share something with you: I had the privilege of staying with a wonderful couple in Switzerland for weekends for six years.

My host has been in a wheelchair since a young age. He and his wife have both been through so much hard stuff, including cancer, and even today she has to go on a dialysis machine every two days. In case you're thinking, "Oh, the poor things," I have to tell you that I don't know any couple as happy as these two are!

Every time we see each other we have so much to laugh about, and everyone who knows them is just amazed at how full of life they are.

You would think he would be trapped in his wheelchair and she would be trapped with the dialysis machine. These are extreme limitations. However, their focus is not on what they can't do, but on what GOD can do!

This couple starts the day with worship music that resounds through the whole house. They pray together, read the Bible, and simply trust God! They don't look at the sickness, they look at the truth because they know it is the truth that sets them free inside!

You can be trapped, and yet be so free! The question is, "What are you allowing into your life?"

When Paul and Silas were in a real prison, they did exactly what my Swiss friends did. “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.” (Acts 16:25 NIV)

They did the right thing because they knew nothing was more liberating.

Do you want to try it too? Today? Now? You will definitely experience what a liberating power there is in praising God!
