Everyday Prayers for FaithНамуна
God Is Faithful to Save
I was maybe five or six years old when I said the prayer. I remember sitting on my daddy’s knee at our dining room table and praying to receive Jesus as my Savior. With that decision, the whole trajectory of my life was changed. No, I didn’t fully understand the weight of my words. I would spend the next several decades learning what it means to put my faith in Jesus. Truthfully, I am still learning, but I was set on a course that day.
Over the years, I’ve heard many people say that little children are too young to understand what it means to accept Jesus as their Savior. But my mom encouraged me in spite of their doubts. She said, “I never wanted to discount what God might be doing in the hearts of my children.” And I’m so thankful she continued to encourage me in my faith because our God is faithful to save.
The book of Romans is one of the most comprehensive and complete gospel explanations in Scripture. The church in Rome was divided over ethnic issues, so Paul wrote to reset the foundation of how we are saved and how we live in light of God’s grace. We must recognize our need for a Savior because no one is righteous and able to save themselves. But there is good news when we have faith in Jesus.
Praise God that He is faithful to save.
As we turn to Romans 4, Paul uses the example of Abraham to show that we need faith in order to be saved—that works will not save us. God made a covenant with Abraham (then called Abram), and Abraham responded in faith. Paul points back to this moment when Abraham, the son of a pagan, confessed his faith in God. Many scholars consider this Abraham’s moment of salvation.
A simple prayer of salvation:
Jesus, thank You for coming and doing what I could not. You paid the price so that I might be saved, not just from hell, but for relationship with You. I believe in You, Lord Jesus. I confess that I am a sinner in desperate need of Your grace. Please save me. I give You my life and surrender to Your ways. Thank You for being faithful to save those who call on You.
About this Plan
Life rarely goes as planned, and we often find ourselves tossed to and fro by circumstances out of our control. When things go awry, our confidence in God’s faithfulness may waver. But His faithfulness is tied to His promises in Scripture, not our earthly circumstances. Join Erin H. Warren as she unpacks the precious promises of God that are worth far more than anything this world has to offer.
