10 Prayers for Financial BlessingНамуна
Prayer 6: Tending Your Harvest with Prayer
As we discussed in Prayer 5, and as we read in Luke 6:38, Jesus promised us that we would receive when we give to others. That promise carries both a reward and a condition. In Prayer 5, we asked God to help us meet the condition. However, today, we're going to pray more about the reward that comes with meeting the condition.
In today's new Scripture passage (Galatians 6:7-10), we read again that a person will reap whatever they sow.
"Sowing" simply means giving. However, the Bible often speaks of "sowing" instead of simply "giving" because Scripture is clear that the act of giving is just like planting a seed in the ground. In gardening, sowing a seed will bring you a harvest. And when it comes to personal finance and every other aspect of life, the same is true. Sowing a financial seed (or any other kind of seed) will bring you a harvest.
That's why Galatians 6:7-10 tells us that we should be careful to only "sow to the Spirit." In other words, we should sow seeds that are pleasing to God:
- Financial seeds (tithes, offerings, and alms for the poor);
- Seeds of time invested in the Kingdom; and
- Seeds of obeying God and loving others.
Everything you do is a seed.
And every time you sow a seed, you should claim God's promise over it, asking Him to bring you a harvest. It's important to cover both ends of the process—both the sowing and the reaping—in prayer.
Pray this:
"Father God, thank You for Your Word about sowing and reaping. As I give to other people according to Your Word, and as I follow Your instructions to become generous like You are, I ask for Your reward today.
Lord, You promised that, as I give, other people would give to me: not just a little bit, but "good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over." Therefore, I ask that You would cause that to happen. Bring me a harvest today—good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.
Also, Father, please help me to keep my eyes on You.
Help me to look only at You as my Source; help me to never look at people for the provision I need. Help me to keep my eyes on You, following Your promptings to give and to do business; and then to sit back and receive.
I am opening my mouth wide, Lord God, and I ask You to fill it. Thank You for doing so. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer. In Jesus' name, amen."
