Living the Dream: 4 Questions Every Dream Should AnswerНамуна
DAY 3:
QUESTION #2: DOES IT UTILIZE YOUR GIFTS?
One of the five love languages is receiving gifts. Imagine this being your love language but never opening and using the gift for which it was intended. It would be antithetical to the point of gift-giving. How many of us have been given gifts from the Lord but either never identify them or simply choose to neglect their design and purpose? In reverse, how offended or hurt would we be if we gave a gift that was never opened or valued? What a tragedy.
Many of us are familiar with personality or spiritual gift assessments and have identified areas we are gifted. That is only half the journey. To chase our dreams to the degree that powerfully and positively impacts others, we are required to intentionally and consistently activate, utilize, and develop those gifts. Many of our Bible wordsmiths would have missed out on their calling as teachers, scholars, leaders, and preachers if they had failed to pursue writing. We may not have two-thirds of the New Testament if the Apostle Paul denied, neglected, or refused his gift of teaching and evangelism. If Solomon kept his thoughts and wisdom to himself, we would not have the life-giving, thought-provoking book of Proverbs, which became a valued resource that revolutionized the way we discern, interpret, and practically apply God’s principles.
Once you gas up your gifts and accelerate toward your dream, you can begin the process of establishing a solution for mankind that was meant specifically for you to establish. Your gift can be the ingredient that quenches the thirst of humanity. It will not only energize your passion and convictions but, when fully developed and utilized, could meet a growing need for a nation or group of people. At the very least, it could monumentally impact your mission field within the four walls of your home. Whether our gifts are monumental contributors to the greater good or they simply serve a smaller group within our sphere of influence, the measure of their significance is determined by how we steward and develop those gifts as vessels that serve God’s people and His Kingdom.
