INNOVATION: The Devotional

DAY 7 OF 7

“IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING” As we come to the end of this devotional, I think it’s apt to lift our eyes above what we feel is comfortable, and come to God with an expectation that what he has planned for our respective lives and ministries is higher and greater than anything we could dream of. In Isaiah 43:16 it says that God is “He who makes a way through the sea and a path through the mighty waters.” Here we are reminded of when Moses took God’s people out of slavery and the fact that God can always make a way, regardless of human circumstances. You may look at the circumstances around you and think that innovation is impossible, but remember that God makes a way through the sea and a path through the mighty waters. If there is lack, he can supply, for his ways are far higher than ours. Ultimately, when problems come our way, it’s not really about the problem; it’s about our perspective of the problem. It really comes down to where we are placing our trust. Like Moses, we can choose to put our trust in God, even when the waves are raging ahead of us and we can’t see any human way out. Steve Jobs was a visionary; so much so that he was called crazy for talking about computers when no-one wanted one. He said that everyone would have a personal one, and today he has clearly been proved right. I believe that if the vision is not intimidating to you, it is insulting to God. If we can rationally find a way to see our vision come to pass, then we have no need for God; we can do it all in our own strength. But if our vision goes beyond ourselves, we always need to rely on him and his provision. Steve Jobs once said “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.” As the church, let’s aim to lead the way when it comes to reaching the emerging generation. We serve an innovative God, so secular culture should be catching up with us as we forge new avenues for people to meet Jesus. Impossible is nothing. Action Point – Today write down a God-dream for what you have in your hand. If it’s not intimidating to you, it’s insulting to God!
