Listen and Follow Without Delay, Discussion, or DoubtНамуна
LISTEN guides you through verses in Exodus 4 as you discover that God does speak to you intimately. You will read how Moses and Aaron, two Old Testament characters, struggled and learned how to listen intently and follow intentionally.
Listen and Follow Without Delay Discussion or Doubt
You may recall the sound of static on a radio. This implies a missed connection and interferes with the listener’s ability to hear what is being broadcast. A simple twist of the dial adjusts the radio frequency and suddenly the station becomes clear. The listener is connected to music, a sporting event, or a news report.
The Bible can be compared to a radio station through which God communicates. LISTEN invites you to move away from the static in your everyday life and personally adjust the dial to hear God’s voice. From Genesis to Revelation, it is clear that God’s desire is for His children to listen to His voice intently, to follow Him intentionally, and to do so in obedience without delay, discussion, or doubt.
By using this plan, you can learn to:
• Hear God’s voice through His written Word.
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27 NLT).
• Listen to His whispered Word
“And the Lord came and called as before, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’ And Samuel replied, ‘Speak, your servant is listening’” (I Samuel 3:10 NLT).
• Obey and Follow God’s written and inspired Word
“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it” (James 1:22-25 NLT).
What if your desire to tune in to God’s voice matched His desire to be heard? What if your desire to follow Him matched His desire to bless? Go ahead. Adjust the dial and LISTEN.
Each day of this plan, read the Scripture, pray for understanding, and answer the questions. Use the notes app on your phone or a notebook to record your answers. Better yet, invite someone to do this plan with you and answer the questions in the Talk it Over section each day.
LISTEN Word by Word
Today, after reading the entire passage, choose three to five verses that speak to you and write, type, or record each verse. This will help you to listen intently because as you copy the passage, you will think about each word.
