Real Life

DAY 23 OF 25

When you’ve set up to iron your wrinkled clothing, have you ever noticed the words written on the warning label? They typically read, “Do not iron clothing while wearing.” Seems pretty obvious, right? Well, the warning label is there for a reason. Somebody somewhere must’ve tried it at least once! Once you notice one, you’ll likely find yourself seeing these kinds of obvious warning labels everywhere.

Today, it's popular to talk about seeing “red flags” in a situation, which is another way of describing either a character trait or response that can be seen as a warning of something that may not be what it seems. Often, we tend to ignore these red flags or warning labels in our lives. Why? Often it's because we tend to think we know better. Where does that usually leave us? Likely doing something unwise (like ironing our clothes while wearing them!). Through His commands, God has placed many warning labels on our lives. He doesn’t do this to control a situation or force us to think a certain way. Rather, it’s to help us live the lives that He intentionally created for us. To protect us, guide us, and lead us toward the real-life He wants for us.

Today, ask God to open your eyes to see and ears to hear the warnings and red flags that you may need to remind you to follow His leading in your life.
