Preparing for HarvestНамуна
Day 2: Money, Money, Money!
Proverbs 3:9 says, "Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce.”
Money is a tough topic to talk about or even think about. In the past, I would find myself avoiding my bank account at all costs to avoid the potential of financial stress. This is because I did not feel in control of my finances, and avoiding my bank account only heightened my anxiety. Our scripture tells us to honor the Lord with our wealth, which is impossible to do if we do not know what's going on with our money. When we are made aware of our spending habits, we can adjust and correct them accordingly.
Finances play such a big part in our life it is no wonder God put in guidelines for us to follow. When we give to God the first of our fruit, we recognize that God is first in our lives. When we spend our money doing things that honor God, we are putting our money to good use. Healthy spending habits lead to a healthy harvest. You cannot have a field full of grain if we do not have the money to water it. Don’t let financial fear stop you from creating a life that leads to godly spending habits. Sit down, add up your monthly income, and look at your expenses. Properly budget so you can feel confident that you are honoring God with the money he has given you.
