Daniel’s Audacious faith
What kind of faith do you possess? Is it bold and audacious or timid and hesitant? Timid faith is constrained by fear, whereas audacious faith is emboldened by courage. Timid faith fixates on the material aspects of life, while audacious faith centers on the spiritual realm. Timid faith makes decisions based on human limitations, whereas audacious faith makes decisions based on the limitless possibilities of God.
So, what type of faith did Daniel exemplify? Was it timid or audacious? One day the King was deceived into enacting a decree forbidding prayer to any deity or person other than the King for a month. Yet, Daniel fearlessly ascended to his upper room, opened the window, knelt, and communed with God. Daniel refused to let anything hinder his deep connection with the Divine.
Upon discovering Daniel's actions, the King experienced immense distress. Although he cherished Daniel, he had to uphold the law. Daniel was subsequently thrown into the den of lions. However, the King prophesied, affirming that Daniel's continuous devotion to God would lead to his deliverance. A stone was placed over the den's entrance, sealed with the King's own signet and the rings of his nobles, to prevent any alteration of Daniel's situation. Upon returning home, the King found himself unable to eat, drink, or rest. Early the following morning, he approached the lions' den and called out to Daniel, the servant of the living God, questioning whether his faithful God was able to save him from the ferocious beasts. God dispatched an angel to seal the mouths of the lions, sparing Daniel from harm. Overjoyed, the King rescued Daniel from the den, astonished to find no injuries upon him. Daniel's trust in God had shielded him from harm.
The inclusion of Daniel's audacious faith story in the Bible aims to shape our thoughts, and habits, and to provide insights to navigate life. We can glean practical lessons from his story to cultivate audacious faith within ourselves. First, we must establish a solid foundation. It is never too late to build a foundation of faith. Dedicate your life wholeheartedly to Christ, engage in continuous Bible reading, and integrate it into your daily life. Secondly, commit to unwavering faith, remaining steadfast regardless of circumstances, just as Daniel did, even when facing the threat of death. In times of adversity, we must stand firm in our faith, irrespective of the outcome. Thirdly, prioritize intimate communion with God through prayer, supplication, and fasting. Dedicate time to study His Word, embracing its prophetic wisdom. Invest late nights in contemplation and rise early to seek His promises, proclaiming them over your life. Sustain an attitude of continual prayer throughout your days, seeking solace in private moments with God. Finally, in the face of trials and challenging circumstances, let us follow Daniel's example and offer praise to God, even when our lives are at stake. Let us exhibit audacious faith by boldly standing for Christ, even when the world diverges. These practices will lay the foundation for unyielding faith, granting us a profound spiritual grounding.
