The Unfair Advantage

DAY 2 OF 5

Dreams are bigger than manmade ideas. Therefore, man has a hard time comprehending them. When a dream is criticized, keep dreaming. When a dream looks like it is over, keep dreaming. When you are getting older, keep dreaming.

Do not merely take a cautious step toward a dream fragment; instead, wholeheartedly pursue your big dreams. Sometimes people disassemble their dream into a fraction of what it could be. One reason is because of the concern of what people will think. The target is lowered, so we are not embarrassed if we miss it on the first try. We play it safe so no one will see us fail.

Also, our own flaws and frailties can seem so large and intimidating. We stop taking steps forward because moving past our weaknesses seems impossible. As believers, however, we are free to cast all of these things aside as our focus shifts from ourselves and onto God’s power at work within us.

The apostle Paul had many dreams as well as many deficits. For this reason, he must have been so encouraged when the Lord said to him, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Cor. 12:9). This is good news for all of us. His power is not limited by our shortcomings. Learning to lean on God is always the first step in going from the natural to the supernatural. And so, turning toward him and trusting in him, we are able to chase after the dream that is so much bigger than we are.

If the dream fails, if the critics are loud, if you are misunderstood, here is your unfair advantage: keep dreaming. . . . What is God speaking? I can bet on the fact that his best is still ahead of you. If you have a pulse, he still has a plan. Dream again.

Prayer

Lord, I want to glorify you in all I do. Please help me to accomplish the dreams you’ve placed in my heart, and please give me strength to continue when it seems impossible. Amen.
