The Cross

Is the message of the cross a ‘stumbling block’ or ‘foolishness’ to you (1 Corinthians 1:23)? Do you truly understand what happened for you on the day that Jesus was crucified?

The immense significance of what happened at the cross was something that I couldn’t understand until later in my life. There was a stumbling block that blocked me from seeing that Jesus needed to die for me too. Ever since this block was removed, God has been giving me glimpse after glimpse into the truth of what the cross means for me.

Talk with Jesus

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18 NIV)

Ask the Holy Spirit to give you a deeper understanding into the power of cross:

• What happened at the cross? What does the cross mean for me?
• Why did You have to die for me?
• What did Your sacrifice on the cross give me?

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I receive Your sacrifice by faith. I receive forgiveness for all of my sins. Your blood, Jesus, has cleansed every part of me, even my conscience. You gave Yourself up for me to make me holy (Ephesians 5:25b).
