Song of SalvationНамуна
Our response to salvation: the horizontal component
“… Make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted. […]
let this be made known in all the earth.” (Isaiah 12:4-5)
Believing is first and foremost something between you and the Lord God. That relationship is very personal. But believing is not something you do on your own. Nor do you always thank and honor God just on your own. If your heart is full of God's goodness and love, you will long to talk about it with others. And that is good. Don't be fooled into thinking that faith is only “a private thing”. On the contrary, the Bible calls us to make God's deeds known in all the earth!
Of course, you have to find the right opportunity for that. It makes no sense to force such a conversation on people who are not open to it. God is not honored if you do. But if you get a chance to witness, you may tell others about the “great things” the Lord has done to save mankind. Perhaps you can also share something from your own life. Just as a positive review may encourage people to buy a book or try a particular holiday destination, so your testimony may invite others to get to know the Lord God.
Do you have the courage to share about your faith in God? What do you find difficult? What could help you in this?
