Screens & Souls

DAY 4 OF 10

Saving Souls through screens

A few years ago, I was asked to consider becoming the next lead speaker for Time of Grace, a ministry that connects people to God through mass media. Before I made a decision, I asked a few people for advice. Should I spend a chunk of my limited time filming TV shows and recording online videos and writing books instead of spending all my time locally at my church? I got all kinds of feedback, but one comment stood out.

A fellow pastor shared, “I think you have to be sitting on a person’s couch in their home to snatch them from the arms of the devil.” I get why he said that. There is something about a physical, face-to-face relationship that is far better than a digital distance, as anyone who has had a long-distance relationship knows.

But, by God’s grace, that pastor was wrong. So many of you whom I have never met have been blessed by God’s Word through print, television, email, and Instagram. Souls have been saved, and lives have been changed (you emailed to tell us all about it!), as God flexes his divine power through all possible means.

Your stories remind me of Paul’s words: “I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some” (1 Corinthians 9:22). There are so many ways and means to reach people with technology. That was true then. It’s still true now.

How could you use your screens to help save people’s souls?

About this Plan

Screens & Souls

This reading plan digs deep into the connection between your screens and your soul. The goal of this plan is to maximize the blessings, minimize the bad things, and help you create boundaries so that these screens are a net gain for your walk with God.
