Thank You Jesus for the Cross
One of the signs that a disciple of Christ is maturing is growth in the area of thankfulness. How many times in life do we see the wonders of the Lord only to respond un-amazed? Thankfulness leads the believer to overflow with songs of joy and lack of thankfulness is the ground on which bitterness grows. As humans, we are creatures of tolerance. The more we see or experience something, the less it impacts us. This isn't an absolute truth. But when was the last time you woke up in the morning and thanked the Lord for another day to live for Him?
In the repetition of experiencing the goodness of God we have become tolerant toward un-gratefulness. But God calls us to come into His presence with thanksgiving. He wants us to acknowledge the things He has done for us and for the things He has given us. Psalm 105:1 says, 'Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples!'
As His people, we should be telling of His deeds in our songs. And in the center of the things God has done for us is the gospel. God did for us what we could not do for ourselves. Through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ we have been made alive in Him. This means we don't have to be separate from God anymore! He made a way so that we could know Him. God forgive us for not being genuinely thankful for our redemption through Christ.
If you have been a Christian for a while, I'm sure you have heard this message many times. But don't let repetition pull away from the awe we should have about what the Lord has done. Today, spend some time thanking Jesus for what He did on the cross. Thank Him for what He saved you from - what He pulled you out of and what you don't have to be anymore. 'Thank You Jesus for the Cross' simply does what the Psalmist calls us to do. It's a song that tells of His deeds. Take a moment to stop and thank the Lord for the things He has done.
