Ephesians

DAY 9 OF 30

In these verses, Paul is speaking directly to the Gentile believers living amongst the Jewish people, reminding them of their distant past when they were far from God and had no hope of salvation. But then Jesus came and, through His work, they have been brought near to God and are now part of His family.

This is a big deal. You see, in the Jewish culture of the day, there was a sense of superiority among the Jews who believed they were the only ones who could approach God. But Paul is saying that's not the case anymore. Christ has broken down those walls and made a way for all believers, regardless of their background, to come to God through the same Holy Spirit.

And Paul doesn't stop there. He uses this powerful metaphor of a building to describe the church, with Christ as the cornerstone and believers as the building blocks. It's a beautiful picture of the unity and interconnectedness of believers, all held together by the foundation of Christ. As believers, we're not just individuals with our own personal relationships with God, but we're part of something much bigger than ourselves. We're joined together in Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit to live out the Gospel message in our lives.

So, in these verses, Paul is emphasizing the universality of the Gospel message and the unity of believers in Christ. He's reminding us that we're all part of God's family and have equal access to Him through Christ. It's a powerful message that still resonates with us today.
