When a Stepmom PraysНамуна
Standing in the laundry room, folding shirts and matching socks, I found myself speaking out loud to the Lord. My laundry room conversations with Him became a regular part of the day.
I was a young wife, a new stepmom, and finding my footing was a constant balancing act. Praying for myself and my new family was how I grew in my role and love for them.
When a stepmom prays, she not only moves in the lives of her family, but she changes her own heart as well. In a role where we often feel helpless or unsure of ourselves, prayer is the greatest thing we can do.
This year we celebrate eighteen years of marriage. My laundry room conversations with the Lord continue. Coming to Him on behalf of your marriage, self, and family is a lifelong practice.
Standing in that room next to our washing machine, the clothes of my family in hand, some days it was easy to speak to the Lord. Words flowed freely about the joy of marriage, the growth of my stepson. I confess, other days my words came out in anger and frustration as I stumbled over my emotions. I am grateful for a Father who listens to both prayers.
Let’s pray together and take a moment to reflect on how you can begin a daily prayer practice and on what areas your family needs prayer. Lord, thank you for the opportunity to speak with you. Thank you for listening to us on days our emotions are both high and low. Teach us to come to you regularly in all things. Amen.

About this Plan
When a stepmom prays, she not only moves in the lives of her family, but she changes her own heart as well. Whether we have uncertainty or questions, there is always room for stepmoms to be a spiritual influence in the family through prayer.
