Rescued From Darkness

DAY 1 OF 5

A Filmmaker's Advice

I was recently asked to give some filmmaking advice and I literally almost fell over laughing!

I laughed so hard because despite our film, Rescued from Darkness, miraculously winning multiple film festival awards and now being available on platforms like Amazon and AppleTV, I still don't consider myself a "filmmaker."

Really.

I think I'm better described as a "disciple with a camera" who lets God be the "filmmaker."

So here is my advice as a "disciple with a camera" (not a "filmmaker") packaged in a devotional for you.

I am convinced that the best version of you in any area of your life will appear when it isn't a version of you at all, but a better version of him leading you instead.

That's what I learned while filming Rescued from Darkness.

Flying to Uganda

I still remember telling God on our flight to Uganda to film Rescued from Darkness that he was the director and I would just be his cameraman.

I'm so glad I chose to be the best version of him leading me instead of the best version of me on this trip. I think you'll be glad every time you choose to be the best version of him leading you as well!

Think and Pray Today

The Apostle Paul said, "It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives within me" (Galatians 2:20).

The Apostle Peter said, "Set apart Christ as Lord in your heart" (1 Peter 3:15).

Paul and Peter weren't perfect people, but they did put God in charge of their lives.

How about you?

That issue you are struggling with the most, is God in charge of it or are you?

It's pretty simple really: a Christian puts God in charge and a nonChristian doesn't.

Who would you like to be?

Read the following Scripture verses and think about who or what is really directing your life.

Tell God you welcome him to direct your life and then sit with him and listen to his direction. You will know what to do with that issue and more.

To see where God led ultimately led me when I welcomed his guidance, check out this thirty second video from Rescued from Darkness below. If you welcome his guidance, God will lead you to places you could have never imagined as well (1 Corinthians 2:9)!
