Persistence is Key! - Matthew 7:7
Do you remember when you decided to work on your art skills? When you first started, I bet your art made it very obvious that you were at the beginner level. Perhaps your art lacked precise details, your shadowing was off, or your proportions were uneven. So perhaps you set aside time (as often as possible) to practice your art. Or, like me, you decided to take an online class or watched thousands of YouTube videos on perfecting your skills. After the 2nd, 5th, 10th, and 100th try, you began to see a gradual change in your artwork. You were persistent. You didn't give up, but you continued to keep going again and again and again!
As we look at Matthew 7:7 (ERV), we see that the word “Continue” is repeated three times. Sometimes it can seem challenging to seek God. Sometimes praying for the same thing over and over and over again can seem as if nothing is happening and feels exhausting. If you are knocking at the door for an opportunity and it’s not opening, don’t give up! It’s easy to get frustrated. I’m writing this to remind you to continue and don’t quit! Re-read Matthew 7:7 and keep on asking, seeking, and knocking.
Persistence is key! If you have to, re-evaluate your motive for asking for an answer to your prayer. Will it boost your esteem or give God glory? If your request aligns with God’s will for your life and doesn’t contradict His character or scripture, continue to ask and seek the Lord. Don’t give up! I can’t stress this enough. Your answer could be right around the corner. Abraham didn’t get his promised child until he was in his old age. Daniel waited twenty-one days before he received an answer to his prayer. As long as you continue praying in faith, your prayers are aligned with God’s perfect timing. Don’t stop now! Your answer is on the way!
