7 Dimensional Relationship As A BelieverНамуна
FATHER – CHILDREN RELATIONSHIP
The Lord’s Prayer begins with ‘Our Father.’ It is not ‘my’ Father but ‘our’ Father. This teaches that the disciples of Lord Jesus Christ are not individuals related to Heavenly Father but belongs to the Family of God – Church. The relationship in this phrase is God as Father and we as His children. Before the earthly ministry of Lord Jesus Christ, Jewish people knew God as Almighty, Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Holy, Sovereign God…etc. Never did they realize the loving God as their Father.
Knowing God as Father is a privilege. In India, beggars address benefactors as ‘Amma’ (mother) or ‘Aiya’ (Father). However, parents know the difference. The words may be the same, but the relationship is different. Beggars use that as ploy or flattering vocabulary to draw the attention of people. Children use the same phrases as right, privilege, and authentic relationship. Inviting Lord Jesus Christ in our lives gives an authentic relationship with God. Apostle John writes: “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)
Lord wants a genuine relationship with people. That relationship is intimate and a family relationship of Father and child. That is received as gift when we accept Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior and Lord.
