Fear is an interesting thing. Put two people in a potentially frightening situation, and you’ll most likely see two very different responses. We’ve all heard of our body’s “fight or flight” response. When we encounter terrifying situations, the adrenaline in our body may cause us to want to stay and fight our way out, or it may give us the desire and power to run away as fast as we can. And recently, science has indicated that there is a third response—freeze. An encounter can be so all-consumingly frightening that we literally cannot do anything at all.
While these are all natural responses, none are truly the solution to what frightens us. We could fight, but we may not win. We can run away, but we may not be fast enough. We can freeze, but that doesn’t stop what is frightening us from being real. God promises to be the solution in any situation we find ourselves in.
Time and again, Scripture shows God’s people in terrifying situations . . . but with God also being right there in the story. He doesn’t just leave us to the things we fear but stays with us. Think about a tough situation that you’ve been in over the last few months. Are there places where you can see God’s influence and support? If you can’t see it yourself, is there a trusted person you know who can help you look at the situation differently?

About this Plan
Getting to know someone takes time. It’s the same with our relationship with God. God doesn’t just want us to know facts about Him or only speak to Him through prayers sporadically said throughout our lives. God wants us to have a relationship with Him based on us knowing who He is. We will walk together through Scriptures that are filled with descriptions of God’s attributes and promises to help us know Him more.
