Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 4Намуна

From today's Scripture, we notice two things:
Firstly, what God did in and through Jesus, was nothing short of new creation.
For the Jews, the ocean was a place and a power of darkness and evil. The disciples who knew Jesus well were afraid of what the power of the waves might do to them and their boat! However, through His words, Jesus recreates the restless waters into calmness.
The second thing we notice is that Faith is quite simply a trust that Jesus is the sovereign one who has authority over all.
The disciples had almost in a sense, gotten used to Jesus healing people and setting them free... but here, Jesus actually trumps the elements - and at that, the raging seas!!! And now he's inviting them to have faith - and exercise faith - in whom HE is.
Thinking of Jesus' response on the boat towards the disciples - maybe you too would like to ask these questions with me today...
How do I regard Jesus? Do I really believe that He has authority over every aspect of my life and my world?
Is my life reflecting Jesus' authority - which brings New Creation to my everyday life?
