Fully Alive - a Life Empowered by the Holy SpiritНамуна
DAY 4 – BE TRANSFORMED BY HIS PRESENCE IN YOU
Jesus came so that we could have life to the full. But what does this mean? Imagine you’ve been working all day and it’s been so busy that you haven’t had time to eat anything. You finish work and your body is exhausted. You’re not quite sure how you’re going to make it through to your table space tonight because you’ve got no energy. As soon as you finish work you race home and enjoy a delicious dinner. Suddenly you’ve got energy because your body has gotten the fuel that it needs to operate at its fullest capacity!
We are the same when it comes to the Holy Spirit. There’s a reason Jesus refers to himself as the bread of life! God created us and knows the best way for us to live life. When we enter into relationship with the Holy Spirit, we choose to allow his presence in us to change us. Sometimes we can fall into thinking this process will just happen by osmosis but it actually happens by choosing to submit to his will in the different areas of our lives even when it is the opposite of what we see or want!
When we give our heart to Christ, we realise that we need to allow some changes to take place if we are really serious about living in the freedom that he offers us. We have to make a choice to be obedient to the things that he asks us to do, or not to do anymore. That’s a journey we’ll walk for the rest of our life. But the Holy Spirit promises to help us and that these changes will enable us to know him more and experience the best life he has for us.
Saying yes to the Holy Spirit’s power in us might mean giving someone our time, or not watching a movie that feeds us unhealthy messages or ideas. Each time we choose to follow him, we are being transformed, stepping into greater strength and peace and walking the full life that Jesus promises us.
Journal:
- Is there a time in your life when you’ve experienced internal transformation out of your submission to God?
- Ask God if there is something in your life that is at odds with what he calls you to do/be.Write down what he tells you and one or two practical things that you can do to submit this area to the Holy Spirit.
