Gracious Heavenly Father,

You are so kind and merciful
in all of Your ways;
perfect in all that You do.

Knowing this,
remembering this,
allowing this to settle
deep in our heart
and take root, -
this is the way
we can praise You
in spite of,
in the midst of,
even though.

It’s not that our circumstances
are always praise worthy,
You are.

It’s not that our situations
are always good,
You are.

It’s not that we are choosing
to go through life
with rose-colored glasses on
oblivious
to the heartache,
pain,
and trials.

It’s that we are choosing
to go through life
with our eyes
securely fixed on You,
always praying to see
Your heart,
Your purpose,
Your die-for-you love
through each tear drop,
alongside each step,
woven through each moment.

Help us not to focus
on the “what”
of our life,
but the “who” –
You,
our Gracious Heavenly Father –
so kind and merciful
in all Your ways:
perfect in all that You do.

In Jesus’ precious name,
we pray.
