Savage Warrior: Called to Be Rugged & Righteous

DAY 1 OF 5

Day 1:

Exhibit A

In a world spinning out of control with political and social unrest, people are searching for direction, peace, and purpose. The world, specifically our nation, is hungry for leadership from a group of people who are designed, equipped, and eager to right this ship within the culture. We need savage warriors who are courageous and bold. Warriors who arise in the face of evil and who stand in the face of heavy opposition or persecution. Savage warriors do what is right, despite cultural narratives and despite resistance to our Christian value structure. Warriors press on and don’t waver from the mission.

Meek and godly, tender and tough, empathetic and assertive are qualities and attributes men were created to exemplify on a daily basis. We are called to be the tip of the spear and to stand in the gap for those incapable of standing on their own. We are called to lead like Jesus. However, many foundational pillars of character like ruggedness, righteousness, and resilience seem to be lacking in today’s portrayal of masculinity. Many segments of society are attempting to psychologically and spiritually bankrupt the real men of this generation.

Jesus was, and is, the ultimate example of masculinity. Not merely maleness but true manhood and biblical masculinity the way God intended. He carried Himself with a confident certainty in His convictions and with a resolute meekness, not weakness. Meekness, as you should know, is power that is under voluntary control and is a quality that savage warriors, men of faith, are wired to exhibit. Warriors fight not only in the natural and physical realm, but also in a realm of spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:12). Warriors aren’t weak, cowardly, or timid. Jesus was a carpenter with rough hands and a strong physical stature. If weakness and frailty were part of His DNA, He would have had a meeting instead of a physical altercation of flipping tables in the temple in a rage against blasphemy and hypocrisy. A soft, flabby dude wouldn’t have been capable of walking the hundreds of miles per day that He experienced. In His spare time, I’m guessing He wasn’t shopping for hand lotion, hair gel, and skinny jeans. What would He say to a group of effeminate, passive, go-with-the-flow followers? He would sternly rebuke the apathetic, vanilla, spiritually flabby Christian man. In love, He would firmly call each man up into his designed identity of true manliness.

It’s time we call each other up and out and get accountable ASAP. It’s time you and I set a new standard and declare a new normal from the standpoint of what true, biblical masculinity looks like. Strength and resilience in our body, soul, and spirit doesn’t just automatically happen by default. It takes unshakable discipline and intentionality. It starts with finding our inner savage warrior that perseveres in times of discomfort and declares war on the spiritual realm of darkness that is attempting to corrupt and hijack our identity as men. I ask you to be my co-pilot through this Bible plan and agree with me in prayer that we will lead with courage and meekness. Just like Jesus.
