The Storm Tormentor

DAY 2 OF 3

There was a man named Ahab; he was one of the most bloodthirsty and wicked kings of Israel in history. Ahab was known for his worship, surrender, and total devotion to pagan gods; he made it easy for the nation to turn its back on God. No one could contradict him; everyone feared him. Ahab and his wife Jezebel had a very clear call, to kill all the prophets of God, and so they had done with many, but there was a prophet who at first did not fear but instead faced Ahab. His name was Elijah, and now he has called for a worship meeting with 850 demoniacs to show who the true God is. Who would do such a thing? Someone who is sick in the head or someone who knows his God very well. I don't want to make the story long; the prophets of Baal invoked their gods, and nothing happened. Elijah prayed to the true God, and there was a powerful and precious manifestation that supported the prophet's life. God literally sent fire from heaven and consumed the altar they had prepared.

Elijah enjoyed it like a child with his toys; all the bad guys were exposed. Elijah lived a moment of great glory and killed all the false prophets.

Jezebel learns that Elijah has killed all her prophets, and paraphrasing, she sends him the following WhatsApp: "Dear Elijah, I have been informed of what you have done with my prophets, rest assured that the same thing you have done with them, the same thing will happen to you in less than 24 hours" P.S. I promise you that this will happen.

Elijah is so scared that he hides in a cave wishing to die. If Elijah had been in a doctor's office, he would have been diagnosed with depression.

The beauty of this story is that God wants to take his prophet to a higher level of knowledge, and here is the most important part of this chapter.

God calls his son and says: "what are you doing here in a cave?" In other words, you will come out of there now, ... and God takes Elijah to the top of a mountain, and the following happens (I would like you to imagine that scene as if you were there yourself and experienced what Elijah experienced in his own flesh). First, God sends a wind so strong that it breaks part of a mountain, then he sends a strong earthquake so that his son experiences what it is really like to tremble, and to top it all off, he sends lightning bolts of fire. I don't know about you, but I would surely have been scared to death if I had been there.

What is God doing? Reminding his son that Jezebel is a louse, she is a harmless little dog; she is a helpless little bird compared to God. God is doing his son a great favor; He is showing him His power; He wants to leave him open-mouthed. He loves him so much that He has to make room in His schedule to reveal to him what can happen if He gets angry.

Tip of the Day: Look closely at God. The spirit of Jezebel will always want to control our emotions, but we have the Spirit of Christ, who not only empowers us but also affirms in our hearts that we belong to Him.

Prayer subject: Spend a few minutes in prayer, asking the Lord to fill you with peace amid trials and adversities.
