Real Hope: Lessons on Leadership Through Deborah

DAY 5 OF 6

Awaking With Song

Deborah’s post-battle song provides us with a remarkable glimpse into what transpired when God awoke her from her day-to-day living. Deborah awoke as a leader to inspire others to get up and fight. She awoke as a worshipping warrior! Deborah had a heart after God that He could anoint and instruct. She saw the oppression of her people; she identified with them in their suffering; she was willing to listen to God, communicate what she heard, and remain faithful to God in the face of overwhelming circumstances. With all the chaos and turmoil in the world today, we can relate to Deborah as a role model who lived in troubled times. God aroused inside her a passion to act after twenty years of persecution while most of her people cowered in dread. God often uses unlikely people and uncommon means to accomplish His purposes and fulfill His promises.

Be inspired to realize that God uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. He wants to awaken you to all He has planned for you. Could this be the typical day that God wakes you from your sleep so He might use you to do more than you could think or dream of for the sake of His kingdom and His glory?

For this reason, He says, ‘Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine [as dawn] upon you and give you light’ (Ephesians 5:14 AMP).

The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song, I give thanks to him (Psalm 28:7 ESV).

About this Plan

Real Hope: Lessons on Leadership Through Deborah

A series by Heidi Wysman. Israel had many judges, but one of the memorable and prominent ones was a woman named Deborah. Not only was she notable because she was a woman, a mother and a grandmother, but also because she was a woman who knew the Lord. We see through her story that she had gained great prominence, distinction and importance on her own merits of character. Her love for, and faithfulness in, her Lord was one that brought her into her destiny of greatness. This Plan looks at what we can learn about leadership from Deborah.
